The other purpose is it gives good insight to the user especially to the technical people as to how the CRM BOL architecture works. The second answer it gives more flexibility as well as the power to each technical developer to design the custom functionality. Due to this inconsistency many times the whole Web UI dumps. First one AET is not always reliable many instances are there where we have added the custom fields/table to the existing standard field and when we try to activate it suddenly takes more time and meantime AET dumps out. ![]() Well there are two answers to this which I have experienced while working in umpteen implementation projects. But then the question is why we should use handler classes in first hand when we have powerful tool like AET with us. To be more precise by using handler classes we are trying to achieve what we do in AET or EEWB. Handler classes methodology is very helpful in SAP CRM WEBUI framework where we have a scenario to enhance standard BOL object in order to include customize functionality. ![]()

![]() In the near future, I plan on adding another XKey unit at lighting to control Reaper playback to make programming lighting cues to the band’s rehearsal easier. There’s some extra stuff going on like using a switch block to turn off the inactive LEDs whenever a new cue is fired and setting the toggle switch on the side to disable the buttons to protect against accidentally firing a lighting cue when I have an operator at the lighting console. So now each button triggers a MIDI note and each LED is listening for a MIDI note. The ControllerMate workflow for this process I programmed the LEDs on the XKeys for each lighting cue to illuminate when they hear a specific MIDI note on the network. The beauty about ControllerMate is that not only can it send MIDI commands, it can also listen to them. I really wanted both XKeys to stay in sync so that if I fired the “Teaching” cue at FOH the corresponding LED would light on the XKey-8 at ProPresenter and visa-versa. You already know how much I hate having to take extra steps so I ordered a XKey-8 to install at ProPresenter. I got trapped in the Production Suite and hadn’t yet fired the Walk In lighting cue. However, I did notice one flaw in my design. It worked flawlessly! Since I didn’t need all 16 buttons dedicated to firing lighting cues, I decided to allocate some for Reaper to make Virtual Soundcheck easier.įiring lighting cues at the first gathering was a piece of cake. I built mine so that each button would fire a specific MIDI note that the RoadHog would then listen to and in turn, fire a corresponding cue. I downloaded ControllerMate, installed it on our Reaper computer sitting at FOH, connected a XKey-16 and started dropping in building blocks. I needed to be able to smoothly fade from cue to cue and be able to jump around as necessary without any gobo pops or erratic movements. One thing it’s not so great at is controlling our compliment of moving-head fixtures and how they transition from cue to cue. Great question! Our architectural control is great for many things. You may be wondering why I opted out of using our architectural control in favor of the RoadHog. With Xkeys I was able to program it to fire lighting cues on our RoadHog while I was still standing behind the CL5 at FOH. I’m not sure how your church is, but at Sandals we have a difficult time pulling in volunteers who are available weekday mornings. That is, until I was asked to support a weekly gathering on Thursday mornings. I know there are a ton of other things I could do with MIDI, but this is all we needed to. By interconnecting those four devices I am able to automate Reaper, trigger backgrounds on our center screen and run MIDI Time Code for video synchronization and lighting cue firing. By using these I was able to get three of my Mac computers-ProPresenter 1, ProPresenter 2 and Reaper-connected to our RoadHog. ![]() Memory Capacity Approximately 1,000 keystrokes or commands in onboard memory. Each pair of these guys are capable of bi-directional MIDI communication over a CAT5 cable.Power Consumption XK-60: No LEDs: 32 mA, Blue LEDs max: 98 mA, Red LEDs max: 145 mA, All LEDs max: 202 mA.Power Source USB port, nominal voltage = 5 vdc.USB type USB 1.1 (compatible through 3.0).Connector Wired USB 2.0 standard “A” plug.Backlighting 1 blue and 1 red addressable LED under each key.Optional Keys 2x1,1x2, 2x2, and 1x1 blocker.relegendable with Cherry MX compatible stem Number of Keys 60 single keys, 1 programming button.Switch Type Full-travel rubber dome, carbon on gold contacts, guaranteed for over 1 million operations.Emulation Modes HID keyboard, HID mouse, HID game controller.Development Kits Windows (C++, C#, VB.NET), Linux (C++), Android (Java), raw HID (any language/OS).Software Windows: MacroWorks 3.1 | Mac: ControllerMate for X-keys Free Software.Operating System Use: Any OS via USB HID | Programming: Windows XP through 8, Mac OS X 10.4 through 10.8 Free Programming. Two color addressable backlighting (red and blue).Free Software Development Kits for programmers.Clear, removable key caps for applying and changing legends. ![]() Unique unit ID supports multiple units on the same system. Having to negotiate pay can be stressful, especially when you’re inexperienced - that’s when it’s good to go to a recruitment agency, so they can do that on your behalf.Ĭareers advice from scientists in industry How easy was it to adjust to your new career? That was probably the biggest culture shock. It’s the same with academia, I think - there are pay bands, and it’s all fairly transparent. In the UK National Health Service (NHS), you work really hard, but you don’t necessarily have to think about the minutiae of your career - you’re somewhat funnelled along. What was one of the hardest parts of the recruitment process? We align the advice we give so that it comes from a member of our team with a matching professional background - a doctor, an academic or a pharmacist. For example, PhD academics want to know about specific roles suited to their experience. We also get different questions from people with different backgrounds. Jonathan Bowen is the medical lead for haemato-oncology at Sanofi in Reading, UK. Other common questions are related to the application and selection process - people want to know how to excel at an interview, and what types of question are asked. It is: “How did you get into pharma?” I am happy to describe my journey, but it is much more practical to turn the question around and say, “Why do you want to join industry?” That will give someone much more insight into what it is they want from a career while highlighting what they don’t know. What is the most common question you are asked? Our information is largely centred on the UK pharmaceutical industry, but the more general advice is relevant to jobs in the United States, Europe and Australia. ![]() My co-founders - a PhD academic and a pharmacist - and I provide free advice and links to useful information, and we offer training courses and 1:1 coaching and mentoring. I produced some resources for people looking to switch careers, and to bridge the gap in experience that everyone has when getting their first job. Careers in the industry sound appealing, but it can be hard to find out more about what the job entails, or where to start. ![]() I thought up the website about two and a half years ago, when I realized that my experience of navigating the career transition was similar to what everyone else goes through. Before getting into pharma, they were also used to working very hard for comparatively low pay, and academics experience the same culture shock and guilt that medics do: they can feel that they’re turning their back on their career and the institutions that trained them. In my current team, are two academics who have PhDs - their experience is very different from mine, but there are a lot of parallels. How does your career experience compare with that of your colleagues who have come from academic research? In 2021, I joined Sanofi’s haemato-oncology team as a senior adviser, and a year later, I became the company’s medical lead for the United Kingdom and Ireland. In 2016, I got a job at a clinical research organization, managing trials for drug companies.Īfter that, I took my first role in industry: I worked in medical affairs at a leading pharmaceutical company, where I spent three years as a medical adviser in haemato-oncology. I have always enjoyed the challenge of learning something new, and you get that motivation in the pharmaceutical industry, because you’re always learning and applying your knowledge. But I didn’t want to leave medicine altogether because of the big commitment I’d already made. I loved my job as a doctor and treating patients, but I had never been one of those people who had wanted to be a doctor ever since they could remember. Soon after qualifying as a medical doctor in 2010, I started thinking about alternative careers - not because I wasn’t enjoying medicine, but because I was looking at everything that motivates me in and out of work, and I wondered whether something was missing. Here, he offers advice on making the change, culture shock and the tricky business of negotiating a pay rise. In 2020, he and a colleague founded, an online mentoring resource that helps scientists and clinicians to navigate moving from academia, medicine and health professions into pharma. Jonathan Bowen left clinical medicine in 2016 for a role in the pharmaceutical industry and is now drug company Sanofi’s medical lead for haemato-oncology, in Reading, UK. Moving from an academic lab to an industry one can be a culture shock. ![]() ![]() ![]() And that has made it through the years very, very popular.
